Twenty Years of Current, One Community at a Time
Fowler Electrical Contractors, Inc. was founded in Southern Pines, North Carolina in 2004 by James D. Fowler — a fourth-generation tradesman with deep roots in the Sandhills region and an unwavering belief that honest craftsmanship outlasts every shortcut. What began as a two-truck residential service operation quickly grew into one of the most trusted full-service electrical contractors in Moore County.
In the early years, James and his small crew built their reputation one house at a time — showing up early, finishing on schedule, and never walking away until the customer was completely satisfied. Word spread. Commercial clients began calling. By 2009, Fowler had expanded into commercial construction, landing contracts with several prominent developers in Pinehurst, Aberdeen, and the broader Sandhills area.
Today, Fowler Electrical employs a team of over thirty licensed electricians, project managers, and safety specialists. Our work spans commercial office buildings, retail centers, healthcare facilities, custom residential estates, and large-scale industrial installations. Each project is personally overseen by a master electrician, and every installation is backed by our industry-leading two-year workmanship warranty.
We have never forgotten where we came from. We hire locally, train apprentices through a formal mentorship program, and remain deeply involved in the Southern Pines community. Our commitment is simple: do the work right, stand behind it proudly, and build relationships that last long after the final inspection.
Work That Speaks For Itself

From First Call to Final Sign-Off
Our five-step process is designed to deliver a seamless experience — minimal disruption to your schedule, maximum confidence in the result.
Consultation
We start with a no-pressure site visit or phone call to fully understand your project scope, goals, timeline and budget. Our project managers ask the right questions so nothing is left to assumption.
Planning
Our master electricians develop a detailed project plan including load calculations, permit applications, materials lists and scheduling. You receive a written estimate before we pick up a single tool.
Installation
Our certified crews execute the plan with methodical precision. Every conduit run, connection point and device is installed to code and documented as we go. We leave the jobsite cleaner than we found it.
Quality Inspection
Before we call any job complete, every system is tested under load, inspected by our quality control team, and verified against the original specification. Third-party inspections are coordinated and documented.
Ongoing Support
Our relationship does not end at project completion. We offer scheduled maintenance programs, priority emergency response, and a dedicated project manager as your single point of contact for anything that comes up.
What Our Clients Are Saying
Real feedback from real clients — property owners, facility directors and developers who trusted us with their most important installations.

“Fowler Electrical handled a complete rewiring of our 80,000-square-foot medical facility over two phases while we remained fully operational. Their project management was exceptional — daily briefings, zero surprises, and they came in ahead of schedule. I've worked with a lot of contractors over the years. These guys are genuinely the best we've ever hired.”
Common Questions, Honest Answers
We believe transparency starts before the first quote. Here are the questions we hear most often — answered plainly and completely.
Yes. Fowler Electrical Contractors, Inc. holds an active Electrical Contractor License issued by the North Carolina State Board of Examiners of Electrical Contractors. We carry full general liability insurance and workers' compensation coverage on every project. Certificates of insurance are available upon request before any work begins.
Our primary service area includes Southern Pines, Aberdeen, Pinehurst, Sanford, Carthage, and throughout Moore County. We also take on commercial projects across the greater Sandhills region and surrounding counties. Contact us for availability outside this area.
Yes, we provide complimentary written estimates for all residential and commercial projects. Our project managers will schedule a site visit, assess the scope of work, and deliver a detailed, itemized quote — typically within 48 hours of the initial visit. There is no obligation to proceed.
Our emergency response team operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. For most emergency calls within our primary service area, we dispatch a crew within 1–4 hours. After-hours emergency calls are answered directly by an on-call electrician — not an answering service.
We handle a wide range of commercial electrical work including new construction build-outs, tenant improvements, retail buildouts, office park infrastructure, healthcare facility upgrades, industrial installations, parking lot and exterior lighting, generator installations, and EV charging station infrastructure. We are also experienced with design-build delivery.
Absolutely. All permitted work is handled correctly — we apply for all required permits, coordinate inspections with the local building department, and ensure every installation is signed off before the project is considered complete. We never recommend skipping permits — it is not safe, not legal, and creates liability for property owners.
All of our workmanship carries a standard 2-year warranty. This covers any defects in labor or installation. Manufacturer warranties on equipment and materials are passed directly to you and are typically independent of our labor warranty. Extended warranties are available on certain commercial maintenance programs.
A panel upgrade typically begins with a load calculation to verify the correct amperage for your needs. We handle permit acquisition, utility coordination for disconnect/reconnect, full panel replacement and labeling, grounding and bonding updates to current code, and a full system test before handover. Most residential panel upgrades are completed in a single day.
Yes. We are experienced with Level 1 and Level 2 EV charger installations for both residential garages and commercial parking facilities. We will evaluate your existing panel capacity, recommend the appropriate circuit and outlet configuration, and handle all permitting and inspections. We work with all major EV charger brands.
Both symptoms can indicate a serious underlying issue — loose connections, overloaded circuits, or a failing breaker. You should schedule an inspection promptly rather than ignore these warning signs. If breakers are tripping repeatedly or you smell burning near an outlet or panel, call our emergency line immediately and avoid using the affected circuit.
Yes. Our commercial maintenance programs are customized to each property and can include quarterly inspections, thermal imaging scans to detect hot spots before they become failures, breaker testing, lighting system audits, emergency generator testing, and dedicated priority-response agreements. These programs are particularly popular with property managers and facility directors.
